David Baillargeon is completeing a dissertation at UCSB on economic development and business networks in colonial Burma. Working with Erika Rappaport, he focuses his work on the Burma Corporation, a multi-national whose lead-zinc-silver mining operations were in the Northern Shan states of Burma during the early 20th century. Mr. Baillargeon has won support from the UC Center for New Racial Studies, the Institute for Historical Research in London, and the Council for European Studies at Columbia University.
