Professor Reiger's research examines European history within a comparative and transnational framework. His talk will examine policy debates about welfare and workfare in the U.S., U.K., and Germany. He is the author of Technology and the Culture of Modernity in Britain and Germany, 1840-1945 (2009) and The People's Car: A Global History of the Volkswagen Beetle (2013).
